I’m sitting here in a coffee shop co-working with a friend and remembering how it feels to write— solely because I know there’s no option not to. Anyone who has ever felt creatively “blocked” will understand this feeling. Lately, the first thought that pops up when I hear my subconscious trying to explain my ten-month silence as being “blocked”— there’s a new, louder voice that yells “you’re not blocked!!!!!”
End of sentence.
I’m not sure where this voice came from, maybe from the first few chapters of The Artists Way— a book by Julia Cameron that serves as both a workbook, a weekly challenge, and a creative manifesto. I only made it a few weeks into the prompt sometime last year. Maybe it’s a golden nugget from my TikTok algorithm which relentlessly serves me inspiration and mindsets to counter my limiting beliefs.
Recently, in an attempt to remember my “why” for writing, a quote found me during a seemingly insignificant moment. It was the quote by Joan Didion:
“I write entirely to find out what I'm thinking, what I'm looking at, what I see and what it means."
This is what compels me to write today.
This first newsletter is just a brief message to announce my return to showing up in your inbox— regular weekly newsletters are resuming next week on my 34th birthday, Tuesday, July 9th.
If ten months ago you were a paid subscriber, ***I’ve also unpaused billing.***
It took me a few weeks to realize I should give you a heads up about this, so please reach out if you were charged and would like a refund. If you choose to continue, know that your support is what helps me sustain my creativity.
Weekly posts will continue to be partially free to all, partially paywalled, as I lean into sharing insights, practical magic, and my every whim in this space. I’m so happy to be back. A little frightened, but happy. More to come soon.
See you on the internet,
XO
